The Service Desk of the GSU library has a reading card library and a sub-department of readers’ registration, which ensures readers’ service in classical and electronic ways, quality service to library users, as well as the availability of library collections and information systems.
It performs the following functions:
- readers’ registration, which gives the right to use the library during the study years,
- reader service in classical and electronic ways,
- display of newly-replenished literature,
- bibliographic service,
- replenishment of the depository,
- classification and description of replenished books,
- circulation of books,
- repair of damaged books,
- computer and information service for students and staff members in the reading room.
- collects, organizes, preserves and makes available the depository
- performs reflection of library funds through library catalogs (listing, classification: alphabetical and orderly)
- provides quality service to library users, ensures accessibility of library collections and information systems
- contributes to education, promotes reading, self-education
- expansion of the scope of library services, modernization. Within the framework of curricula and programs acquires professional literature
- participation in international and national library programs
